Duties of the Dealership Accountant:
  • Lead and manage the accounts department ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial data
  • Produce management accounts and forecasts in line with company policies and deadlines
  • Reconcile accounts, including bank statements, purchase, and sales ledgers
  • Prepare and review manufacturer composite information and stock valuations
  • Provide financial guidance and support to departmental managers
  • Conduct inductions and ongoing training for accounts team members
  • Monitor and improve department efficiency and compliance with legislation
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data
  • Assist with month-end procedures and year-end audit preparations
Candidate specification for the Dealership Accountant:
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Assistant Accountant or Accountant within a dealership environment
  • Familiarity with CDK/Kerridge systems highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of dealership accounts and financial reporting
  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work accurately under pressure
  • Knowledge of current financial regulations and best practices in automotive finance
