Our client, a well-established and highlyrespected Commercial Vehicle Main Dealer, is currently seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their busy and professional workshop team in the Tamworth area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified HGV Technician looking to develop their career with a leading commercial vehicle operation that invests heavily in its people, facilities, and ongoing training.

About this HGV Technician Role:

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of Heavy Goods Vehicles, ensuring all work is completed to manufacturer and industry standards. Working within a modern, fully equipped workshop, you will play a vital role in keeping customer fleets operating safely and efficiently.

Working Hours for the HGV Technician:
  • Rotating shift pattern
  • 45 hours per week
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Shift A: 06:00 – 15:30
  • Shift B: 09:00 – 18:30
  • Participation in an on-call roadside assistance rota is also required.
Duties as an HGV Technician Include
  • Carrying out routine servicing and scheduled maintenance.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
  • Repairing and replacing vehicle components as required.
  • Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify defects.
  • Completing all work to manufacturer and DVSA standards.
  • Accurately recording work completed and maintaining service documentation.
  • Supporting roadside breakdown and assistance activities on a rota basis.
  • Working effectively both independently and within a team environment.
The Successful HGV Technician Will Have:
  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or similar.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent qualification).
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
  • HGV licence advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience within a franchised commercial vehicle environment would be beneficial.
