We are looking for an experienced Automotive Welder / Fabricator to join our client’s workshop working on classic car restoration and bespoke customer builds. This is a full-time, permanent position where quality workmanship and careful metal assessment are at the heart of every project.

Pay: £35,000 - £40,000
Hours: 40 hours per week - can be flexible start and finish times

Duties:
  • Carry out MIG, TIG, and stick welding on thin, rusty sheet metal, ensuring clean, accurate welds without burn-through
  • Assess vehicle rust damage and determine the best repair approach before work begins
  • Remove corroded sections using grinding, sanding, blasting, or chemical methods where required
  • Fabricate sheet metal sections, including patching and panel replacement to restore original contours
  • Use plasma cutting to prepare repair areas and remove damaged metal efficiently
  • Complete body filler work to achieve a high-quality finish after structural repairs
  • Apply corrosion prevention methods, including priming and protective coatings
  • Undertake structural repairs with sound judgement and a strong focus on workshop safety
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Welder / Fabricator - Automotive within automotive restoration or related metal fabrication
  • Strong ability to weld thin sheet metal in challenging conditions, including rusty and weakened areas
  • Knowledge of rust assessment and repair preparation methods such as grinding, sanding, blasting, and chemical treatment
  • Confident with sheet metal fabrication, patching, panel replacement, and plasma cutting
  • Experience with corrosion prevention, including priming and coatings
  • Able to follow safety procedures and work accurately to a high standard on classic vehicles
