Pay: £35,000 
Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday 

Automotive Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper Required in Croydon, Surrey for an Accident Repair Centre Group. If you are looking for a hands-on Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant role with a clear pathway into broader finance support, this position offers strong day-to-day variety, hybrid flexibility after probation, and a supportive environment where your accuracy will make a real impact.

Duties

  • Process day-to-day bookkeeping including sales and purchase ledger administration
  • Load and maintain supplier invoices in Sage and Xero, ensuring entries are accurate and fully coded
  • Handle VAT admin, including preparing and filing VAT returns and supporting VAT schedules
  • Pay suppliers and maintain control of incoming and outgoing payments
  • Monitor and respond to finance emails relating to payees and receivables
  • Maintain organised filing and records for invoices, documents, and supporting paperwork
  • Assist with broader finance tasks in the interim while the main finance contact is onboard
Requirements

  • Experience working in a Purchase Ledger and/or Accounts Assistant capacity (Credit Controller and Assistant Accountant experience is also beneficial)
  • Strong data entry skills with a careful eye for detail and an organised approach
  • Working knowledge of Sage and Xero is preferred
  • Confident handling VAT processing and invoice loading duties
  • AAT (Level 3 or above) or a part-qualified route such as ACCA or CIMA is desirable
  • Motor trade experience is not essential, but previous exposure to commercial accounts practices is advantageous
