We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated HGV Technician Supervisor / Workshop Chargehand to join our client's team at their Widnes depot. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take charge of a busy service department, overseeing day-to-day operations and leading a team of technicians. The ideal individual will bring technical expertise, supervisory experience, and a proactive approach to ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles.
  • £20 per hour
  • 4 day working week
  • Leading Commercial Dealer Group in Widnes
  • Monday to Thursday 6am til 4:30pm
  • Great opportunity for progression and route off the tools
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary of £41,000 per annum
  • OTE of £50,000
  • Working hours Monday to Thursday from 6am to 4:30pm, promoting a healthy work-life balance

Duties: 
  • Supervise and delegate work to the technician team ensuring high standards of service
  • Assist in training and developing staff, including apprentices
  • Liaise with other supervisors and communicate effectively with customers and suppliers
  • Monitor and optimise workshop productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure work is completed to the required quality standards and adhere to health and safety procedures
  • Conduct final inspections and quality checks on repair work
  • Provide technical guidance and support to your team
  • Maintain accurate job card documentation and ensure all work is properly recorded
  • Identify training needs and assist with staff development plans
  • Flexibly manage workload and support the team to meet operational targets
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle or an equivalent technical qualification
  • Proven experience in vehicle diagnosis, servicing, maintenance, and repair
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence; HGV licence preferred but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional and confident manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently as well as part of a team
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of quality and customer service
