Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced HGV Fleet Technician to join their team in Littlehampton, West Sussex. This is a key role for a skilled professional capable of managing the maintenance and repair of a varied fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.

You will be working as the Sole HGV technician with a busy highways infrastructure business. This role provides a relaxed atmosphere, but a requirement to be flexible to ensure vehicles are available to the team.

Duties:
  • Plan and organise workshop workload and maintenance schedules efficiently
  • Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs including DAF and Volvo models.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults accurately
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and carry out necessary repairs to ensure passing of each test.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service and repair records
  • Work closely with management to prioritise urgent repairs and minimise vehicle downtime
  • Carry out inspections and rectify major defects in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Support out-of-hours call out duties as required, including repairs and fault diagnosis over the phone
  • Assist with planned maintenance and breakdowns on a range of fleet vehicles including road marking units and trucks between 28 and 44 tonnes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic with 5-6 years of relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of DAF and Volvo commercial vehicles preferred but not essential
  • Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and repair skills
  • Experience preparing vehicles for MOT is desirable
  • Organisational skills and the ability to plan workloads effectively
  • Responsible, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Valid driving licence, with an HGV licence being advantageous but not mandatory
  • Flexibility to work across various shifts, including out-of-hours call outs when required
