We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our established automotive car dealership based in Sidcup, Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take a key role in monitoring financial performance, supporting business decisions and helping drive continued growth within a successful used vehicle dealership.
Working closely with the Directors, site management and operational teams, you will provide accurate financial insight across the business. This Management Accountant position would suit an experienced Motor Trade Accountant or an ambitious Assistant Accountant ready to progress their career.

- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial management information and KPI reports
- Monitor actual expenditure and performance against budgets, investigating variances and identifying opportunities to improve profitability
- Prepare weekly, quarterly and ad hoc profit and cash flow forecasts
- Support working capital management, including vehicle funding arrangements, loan accounts and cash flow planning
- Manage VAT returns, NOVA submissions and bank reconciliations
- Reconcile nominal ledger, debtor, creditor and control accounts
- Maintain accurate prepayment, accrual and fixed asset records
- Manage depreciation and finance repayment schedules
- Analyse vehicle stock, margins and associated costs to support commercial decision-making
- Assist with annual budgets, financial forecasts and statutory year-end accounts
- Liaise with external auditors and maintain comprehensive supporting schedules
- Attend management meetings and monthly account reviews, providing clear financial recommendations
- Work with site management to monitor performance and support operational decisions
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and reporting systems
- Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Motor Trade Accountant or Assistant Accountant
- A minimum of two years’ experience within the Motor Trade is preferred
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Strong reconciliation skills across nominal, bank, debtor and creditor accounts
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections and variance analysis
- Knowledge of working capital management, vehicle stock accounting and margin analysis
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate financial reporting
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement and financial control
- Experience using an automotive Dealer Management System would be advantageous
- Familiarity with Xero or Sage accounting software would be beneficial
