The role of a Senior Car Sales Executive is one that is highly rewarding and can lead to great career prospects. The role of a Car Sales Executive is one that is highly competitive and, at times, high stress. Not only are you competing with other dealerships in the area, but there is also an element of competition within your own dealership as there are often several Vehicle Sales People within the one showroom.

A Senior Car Sales Executive will have additional responsibilities which will usually include being a mentor to the rest of the Sales Executives as well as prospecting to new and existing customers, qualifying, demonstrating and selling a product and promoting the additional accessories, warranties, insurances and protection products on offer.

Senior Vehicle Sales Executives work within a Car Showroom, these can be represented by a single vehicle brand and manufacturer owned, whilst others will sell any make or model. They will tend to work between 37 and 40 hours a week on a shift rota, which includes weekends and bank holidays, but in return, they tend to earn a very good salary which is mainly made up of commission from Car Sales. Those who work within Commercial Vehicle Sales or Fleet Sales will typically work Monday to Friday only to reflect the hours of the companies they are selling vehicles to.

The role of selling vehicles has slightly changed somewhat over the years, to keep in line with what the customers want. Gone are the days of the hard sell and the negative reputation of the ‘second-hand car salesperson’, now it is all about customer experience and building relationships with customers to ensure repeat custom and recommendations. There is a clearly defined Career Path for Senior Car Sales Executives, some will progress onto becoming a Vehicle Sales Controller, from there they move onto a Business Manager or Transaction Manager role and some find themselves working up to Vehicle Sales Manager or work in the Commerical sector as a Commercial Sales Manager.
