Due to business expansion, our client, the largest auto electrical product/service provider in the South of England, is looking to recruit an Auto Electrician for their Swindon depot.
Reporting to the Service Supervisor, as an Auto Electrician, your key responsibilities will include the installation of aftermarket equipment into cars and commercial vehicles - usually safety products such as cameras, proximity sensors, lighting, power management and related equipment. You will also diagnose and repair electrical faults on vehicles and service/repair auxiliary heating and air conditioning. Secondary duties include interacting with our client's customers, liaising with the Service Department, and general administration such as recording of time, parts and labour.
In order to be eligible, you must have good knowledge of vehicle/marine electrical systems and be able to diagnose basic and complex faults using various diagnostic equipment. You will either have qualifications in auto/marine electrics (City & Guilds or an IMI/NVQ) or over 5 years of practical experience working on auto/marine electrics. You will also need to have some experience in installing aftermarket equipment into vehicles, ideally emergency service vehicles. An ideal candidate would be familiar with the following areas of the emergency services:
- Control Unit, such as the Standby/Carnation MCS/Genasys control units.
- ANPR systems such as Cleartone.
- Screen integration knowledge, such as Standby.
- CAN-bus integration systems such as CANM8.
- Secure radio systems such as Sepura and Moterolla.
