Pay: £38,000 per annum + incentives 
Hours: 8am - 6pm Monday - Friday - no weekends 

Fleet Vehicle Technician Required in Farnham – Keep Large Fleets on the Road

  • Pay: £38,000 basic 
  • Location: Farnham, Surrey
  • Licence: Full UK driving licence with 7.5 tonne entitlement – non-negotiable
  • Preference: Previous rental / fleet experience (e.g. Northgate or similar)
Are you an experienced Fleet Vehicle Technician who knows how to keep large fleets moving? We are recruiting on behalf of a busy fleet / rental operation in Farnham for a practical, no-nonsense technician who prioritises getting vehicles back on the road quickly and cost-effectively with no needless upsells.

This role can be based in the workshop or on the rental side, with genuine flexibility for candidates who are happy to work mobile. The ideal person will have a strong background looking after large commercial fleets, a can do attitude, and a genuine focus on keeping costs down while maximising vehicle availability.

Duties:

  • Maintain and repair vehicles across a large fleet to keep them operational and available for hire/use
  • Carry out servicing, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs with a strong emphasis on getting vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible
  • Approach repairs cost-consciously – for example, repairing or partially replacing brake pads rather than automatically fitting full new sets
  • Adapt and reuse parts where sensible and safe 
  • Work either in the workshop or support the rental fleet as required
  • Carry out MOT preparation (MOT licence advantageous)
Requirements:

  • Proven experience looking after large fleets and keeping vehicles on the road as a vehicle mechanic
  • Full UK driving licence with 7.5 tonne entitlement – this is non-negotiable
  • Previous experience with a rental company (e.g. Northgate or similar) is highly desirable
  • Practical, adaptable attitude – able to think commercially and avoid unnecessary parts replacement
  • Happy to work in the workshop and/or mobile as needed
  • MOT Tester licence is a significant advantage but not essential
  • Good work ethic and positive attitude
